5 October 2021 - Today, Synnex is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative in collaboration with Google for Education and the New Zealand Ministry of Education (MoE).
This initiative will see all state and state integrated schools provided with Ministry-funded Chrome Education Upgrade and Google Workspace for Education Plus licenses. The joint agreement will mark a significant step in upgrading the teaching and learning tools for teachers, and the security tools available to school administrators.
The MoE has committed to funding Google Workspace for Education Plus licenses for three years. These licenses will be available to schools via Synnex resellers. This follows the success of the initial Chrome Education Upgrade program funded by the MoE back in 2018, which the MoE has recently committed to supporting for another three years.
Stuart Wakefield, The Ministry of Education’s Chief Digital Officer said, “The Ministry of Education is pleased to be able to renew and extend its existing agreement with Google through to 30 June 2024, covering Chrome Education Upgrade and Google Workspace for Education Plus for all state and state-integrated schools and kura in New Zealand.”
He added that, “the addition of Google Workspace for Education to the agreement supports the rapidly growing use of online learning platforms accelerated by COVID lockdowns and provides us with the benefit of advanced features in areas of security, integration and collaboration.”
Google Workspace for Education helps schools collaborate easily, streamline instructions, and keep the learning environment safe and secure. The Google Workspace for Education Plus edition includes all the enhanced security features and tools from Education Standard, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and more. Schools will be able to deploy the Google for Education suite of tools to enrich class experiences, increase engagement, and promote authentic thinking while proactively preventing security threats.
Colin Marson, Head of Google for Education, APAC said, “We are excited to extend and deepen our collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The New Zealand education system continues to be a global pioneer in leveraging technology in the classroom, and we look forward to continuing our support over the coming years.”
“Synnex is extremely excited to be working with The Ministry of Education and Google on such an important project for the future of New Zealand’s schools”, said Johnson Ko, Synnex New Zealand Sales and Marketing Manager.
“Bringing collaboration and productivity tools such as Google Workspace for Education into the hands of teachers and students will help accelerate the transformation from pure physical collaboration in classrooms, to online collaboration, as New Zealanders continue to respond to the pandemic,” Ko continued.
Channel partners will have the opportunity to build out their offerings by bundling their professional services with these funded licenses, effectively being able to procure the licenses from Synnex free of charge for eligible schools, and receive a commission for each license deployed.
Synnex will offer support to help partners take a wide range of education and enablement programs to the schools, and ensure all qualifying schools have the opportunity to understand the benefits this program brings, and how they can fully utilise the features and tools of Google Workspace for Education and Chrome Education Upgrade.
